ENGLISH READING

According to Lima(2008), the majority of students in elementary school class shows difficulties to reading and text comprehension, not to become acquainted with the foreign language texts discussed in class.
Thus, the classes become boring, already the texts are disinteresting and are based in translations of it, which leads the conclusion that many students don’t like English, because the classes are centered in the teacher all the time and, according Pontecorvo(apud Lima, 2008) there isn’t space to building knowledge in these classes. The researcher demands demands as an immediate action to analyze the instrumental approach to obtaining a significant result of students' skills in the classroom in relation to texts read in class.
“During reading, the reader can building the text meaning by the interaction of various skill levels: linguistic, textual, prior knowledge and strategic”(Kleiman, apud, Lima,2008). According to Lima, such strategies facilitate the reading, because, somehow, help the reader understand a particular text discussed in class.
